Brett Sawyer, E Learning Coordinator, Toowoomba Grammar School

Brett is the Head of e-Learning at Toowoomba Grammar School, a P-12 boys’ school catering for 1200 students. In his five years at Toowoomba Grammar School, Brett has led the college into the use of Google Apps for Education, Moodle and the implementation of 1:1 iPad program. He is an experienced classroom teacher that has taught Biology, Science, Mathematics and Digital Technologies for over 15 years.

Brett holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Diploma of Education, in his current role he enjoys cutting through all the jargon and assisting staff to practically use IT in the classroom to enhance student learning.

A BYOD program was rolled out in 2015, but as of 2019, Toowoomba Grammar School has chosen to return to a School supplied model commencing for students from Year 4 to Year 9.  The timeline, strategies, and justification for this change in direction will be discussed.

Brett has been working with his co-presenter Paul Barton (Head of Information Technology) since the beginning of 2014.  They look forward to sharing their experiences, and those of their colleagues and School, with you at the National Future Schools Expo 2019.
